As a Korean, I often get asked by foreigners about (South) Korean plastic surgery.

For Korea, it is ?cheaper" to get plastic surgeries because there is a huge surplus of medical school.

There are 41 medical schools in South Korea only and they produce 3000 graduates every year.

South Korean population is about 50 millions.  Medicine is a highly sought  after by brilliant,

ambitious students in Korea, as in other developed countries. Unlike Canada or US, there is a huge

surplus of doctors in South Korea.

As you know, price is regulated by demand and supply. The Korean government does not limit the

number of a certain medical specialty. Since everyone knows where the lucrative medical specialty

is, this is why there are so many plastic clinics in South Korea. Today, plastic surgery tourism is one

of Korea's main export products along with cars, memory ram, cellphones, k-pop and k-drama.

Most of the tourists are from other parts of East Asia and US.
